PERSONNEL OF UNDP ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS DEVELOP SKILLS ON MAINSTREAMING GENDER APPROACHES INTO THEIR ACTIVITY

Specialists of the UNDP environmental projects took part in the training “Integration of Gender Approaches into the UNDP Environmental Projects Activity”. The trainers Anastasia Divinskaya, UNDP Country Programs Gender Coordinator, Olga Filippova, expert of Economic and Social Policy Department, Administration of KR President, told participants about theoretical and practical aspects of gender relations, development history of “gender” in UN, UN policy and strategy on achieving gender equality, and the results of gender analysis of the UNDP “Capacity Building and Strengthening Environmental Governance for Sustainable Development” project.

Anastasia Divinskaya told about the projects aimed to solve the gender problems that were implemented in the Kyrgyz Republic. She also informed in further detail about the pilot study in Chui and Issyk-Kul oblasts on access of men and women to natural resources, gender analysis of the State Agency on Environment Protection and Forestry under the Government of KR activity .

In the practical part of training, Olga Filippova has demonstrated tools for integration of gender approaches into the UNDP environmental program activity and development of concrete steps for their implementation. She has presented a system of “10 Steps of Mainstreaming Gender Approach into the Strategic Decision-Making Process”. Based on this system participants have updated their work plans taking into account of gender aspects.

FINAL NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF NDPU WOMEN'S WING TO BE HELD

The final national conference of the "Faol ayollar" (Active Women) women's wing of the National Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (NDPU) will be held in the second decade of August.

The aim of the conference is to form the coordinating bodies of the women's wing at the republican level and determine the priorities of its activity with due regard to plans and programmes of the NDPU, and provision for women's participation in the socio-political and cultural life.

The upcoming conference will sum up the results of the regional, district and city conferences of the wing being held in all organizations of the NDPU across Uzbekistan in June-July this year.

Participants of the conferences discuss practical participation of the NDPU in the implementation of laws, resolutions and Presidential decrees, aimed at support of spiritual and intellectual growth of women, their full-value participation in socio-political, socio-economic and cultural life of the country. To date, 22 laws, 11 resolutions and decrees of the President and 22 Government decisions have been passed addressing these issues.

Faol Ayollar Women's Wing unites over 110,000 women, members of the NDPU, who actively assist the implementation of laws and government decisions in life.
